RING MURUKKU / CHEGODILU / ANDHRA MURUKKU

Hi friends,
Ring murukku or chegodilu or Andhra murukku is an easy recipe that can be made at home. Making the rings takes some time but it is really worth the time you take to make it. Everyone at home will definitely relish this.




Ingredients:
  • Rice flour - 1 cup
  • Red chilli powder - 1 teaspoon 
  • Butter - 2 tablespoons 
  • Jeera / cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • Sesame seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • Split Moong dal - 2 tablespoons; soaked in water for an hour 
  • Salt to taste
  • Water - 1-1.5 cups
  • Oil for frying 
Method :
  • Dry roast the rice flour in a pan
  • Transfer it to a mixing bowl
  • Add the red chilli powder, butter, jeera, sesame seeds, salt and mix well
  • Boil water in a pan
  • Add the soaked moong dal in the water
  • Allow the water to come to a boil
  • Remove the moong dal and add it to the rice flour mixture in the mixing bowl
  • Add the boiling water to the rice flour mixture little by little 
  • Stir it well so that the flour also is passively cooked
  • Allow this to cool
  • Then knead it with your hands to form a smooth dough
  • Take a small portion of the dough
  • Roll it between your palms into a long cylinder
  • Then fold the edges and bring them to oppose each other
  • Gently press the two ends to form a ring as shown in the picture below



  • Repeat the same with the rest of the dough to form the rings
  • Heat oil in a wok or kadai 
  • Add the rings in batches and deep fry them in medium flame till they turn crisp and the bubbles subside
