RAVA PANIYARAM

Hi friends,
Rava paniyaram is a tasty version of the usual Kara paniyaram. It is easy to prepare and can be made for breakfast or as an evening snack.


Ingredients:

  • Rava - 1 cup
  • Curd - 1 cup
  • Onion - 1, medium sized, finely chopped 
  • Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • Jeera or cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon 
  • Split urad dal - 1 teaspoon 
  • Chana dal - 1 teaspoon 
  • Fried gram - 2 teaspoon 
  • Green chillies - 2, finely chopped 
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Cooking soda - a pinch
  • Water - 1/2 -3/4 cup
  • Salt - to taste
Method: 
  • Soak the Rava in the curd for half an hour


  • Heat oil in a kadai or wok
  • Add the mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split urad dal, Chana dal, fried gram one by one
  • Sauté well
  • Add the green chillies and curry leaves
  • Sauté again
  • Add the chopped onions and sauté well



  • Add this sautéed mixture to the soaked rava


  • Add the cooking soda and salt; mix well
  • Add water to get a thick pouring consistency 
  • Now, the batter is ready

  • Heat the paniyaram pan
  • Add oil in each slot 

  • Pour the batter in each slot with the help of a ladle
  • Do not fill the slot upto the brim


  • Allow it to cook by covering it with a lid


  • Flip it over and cook on both the sides till the outer layer turns crisp



  • Serve hot with accompaniment of your choice
  • This Rava paniyaram can be relished with tomato onion chutney
