INGREDIENTS:
- Karamani / Black-eyed beans / cow peas / lobhiya - 1/2 cup
- Mustard seeds- 1tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1tsp
- Split urad Dal - 1tsp
- Asafoetida-1tsp
- Garlic- 3cloves; finely chopped
- Ginger-1" piece; finely chopped
- Green chillies- 2 nos
- Grated coconut- 2tbsp
- Curry leaves- a handful
- Salt- to taste
- Gingelly oil - 3tsp
METHOD:
- Soak the black-eyed beans in water for 8 hours
- Pressure cooker the black-eyed beans for 1 whistle followed by 2 minutes in low flame
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, split urad dal, asafoetida
- Add the chopped garlic and ginger
- Add the green chillies and grated coconut
- Saute well
- Add the curry leaves
- Add the dal
- Add Salt
- Mix well
- Serve
