Hi friends,
Shahi Tukda is a simple Indian dessert recipe. It can be easily made at home. It was made by the royal chefs for the Mughal kings and hence the name. I have posted a simplified version of the recipe that I have been doing for the past many years.
INGREDIENTS:- Bread slices- 4; cut into desired shapes
- Butter - 3tbsp
- Milk - 1/2 - 3/4 cup
- Saffron strands - 10-15 nos; soaked in 2tbsp of milk
- Sugar - 2-3tbsp
- Cardamoms-3nos
METHOD:
- Toast the cut slices of bread with butter in a griddle or tawa
- Arrange it in a bowl or plate
- Boil milk in a pan
- Add the soaked saffron and cardamoms
- Remove from fire once it thickens to the desired consistency
- Pour it on top of the toasted bread
- Serve
Tips:
- Ideally the bread slices are fried in ghee and then milk is added
- You can refrigerate this and serve chilled also
- The method of toasting it with butter is a healthy alternative to deep frying in ghee
