Banana halwa is an easy to make sweet recipe. Ripe or overripe bananas can be used for this recipe. Bananas are rich in Magnesium and potassium. They are good for children and adults. However, it is not advisable for diabetics, since it has a high glycemic index.
Ingredients:
- Bananas - 2 large bananas, preferably overripe
- Sugar - 5 tbsp
- Ghee (Clarified butter) - 2 tbsp
- Cardamom powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cashews - 6, roughly chopped
- Almonds - 6, roughly chopped
- Corn flour - 1 tbsp; to be made into a paste with 2 tablespoons of water
Method:
- Cut the bananas into quarters
- Grind it to a smooth paste in a mixer grinder
- Heat ghee or clarified butter in a pan
- Add the chopped cashews and Almonds
- Fry them till golden brown
- Keep aside
- Add the ground banana paste to the same pan
- Keep stirring well
- Keep adding ghee or clarified butter little by little as you stir
- Add the cornflour paste
- Keep stirring well
- Add the sugar and cardamom powder
- Stir well till the mixture leaves the sides of the pan
- This is the correct consistency for the halwa
- Remove from the pan
- Serve hot
